Jon D. Clark – Attorney


Jon has been engaged in the practice of law since 1993 and is a graduate of Oberlin College, (B.A. in philosophy), and of the Cleveland State University, Marshall College of Law. He has been a member of the Ohio State and Lorain County Bar Associations since 1993 and is admitted to practice in all Ohio State Courts, the United States District Court for the Northern District of Ohio and the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.

Jon is the current Law Director for the City of Oberlin and has served as the Solicitor for the Village of LaGrange for over 10 years. He has served as a municipal prosecutor in several jurisdictions.

Private practice areas include real estate, landlord-tenant law, foreclosures, general civil litigation involving real estate transactions, title and property disputes, contracts, easements, mechanics liens business entity formation. Jon is responsible for forcible entry and detainer actions for the Lorain Metropolitan Housing Authority and routinely advises its staff on myriad matters relating to public housing law, including collections, tenant bankruptcy, ADA and Fair Housing law compliance and internal policy development and drafting.

Jon advises and represents parties in real estate transactions; provides legal service and counsel to owners of multi-unit apartment complexes, manufactured home parks and private landlords; advises and represents small businesses in business entity formation and on consumer law issues; represents mortgagors, lien claimants and other parties in foreclosure actions and resolves legal issues relating to real estate title.

Jon currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors for Kendal at Oberlin, a non-profit community care retirement facility and on its Governance Committee. He is a past member and officer of the Board of Trustees for the Lorain County Legal Aid Society and was a Board Member for the Zion Community Development Corporation, a non-profit organization located in Oberlin, committed to the revitalization of lower income Oberlin neighborhoods. Jon chaired the City of Oberlin’s Zoning Board of Appeal’s from 2004 to until his appointment as its Law Director in 2013.
